BNC CONNECTOR

BNC Connector

The BNC connector is a type of RF connector used for terminating coaxial cable. It is a lot smaller than N and C connectors. BNC connector also known as: "Baby Neill-Concelman", "Baby N connector", "British Naval Connector", "Bayonet Nut Connector".

The BNC connector is used for professional video connections, both for analog and Serial Digital Interface signals, amateur radio antenna connections, and on nearly every piece of electronic test equipment. This connector is an alternative to the RCA connector when used for composite video on commercial video devices, however many consumer electronics with RCA jacks have been utilized on commercial video equipment with BNC jacks via adaptor. BNC connectors were commonly used on 10base2 thin Ethernet networks, both on cable interconnections and network cards, though these have largely been replaced by newer Ethernet devices whose wiring does not use coaxial cable. Some ARCNET networks use BNC terminated coax. A threaded version of the BNC connector, known as the TNC connector (for Threaded Neill-Concelman) is also available. It has superior performance to the BNC connector at microwave frequencies.

The BNC connectors are commonly used in NIM electronics, but they are now often replaced by LEMO miniature connectors which allow for higher densities.

RF Connector

An RF Connector is an electrical connector designed to work at radio frequencies in the multi-megahertz range. RF connectors are typically used with coaxial cables and are designed to maintain the shielding that the coaxial design offers. Mechanically they provide a fastening mechanism (thread, bayonet, braces, push pull) and springs for a low ohmic electric contact.

Types of RF connectors include:

1 Standard types
2 Miniature types
3 Sub-miniature types
4 Precision types

Amphenol Connector

Amphenol Corporation is one of the world's leading producers of electronic and fiber optic connectors, cable and interconnect systems.

An Amphenol connector is often referred to as a Telco connector. AMP (short for Amphenol) connectors are most commonly seen today where a twenty-five (25) pair cable connects to an RJ-21X in a telephone room. Amphenols are male or female. Often used to link PABX's to a mainframe. An AMP Connector is a tool used to join the loose ends of a multi-pair cable into the plug ended. The AMP Champ is a "butterfly" on which the colored wire pairs in a multi-pair cable are layed out in a defined order on one side of the tool. The AMP connector is mounted on the other side. A pull lever crimps the wire ends into the pins of the AMP connector.
